The history of Validus

Here are a few of the milestones in the story of Validus – so far:

1960
• Torgeir Stykket sets up the company T. Stykket AS

1976
• Nutana Norge is set up by the Adventistsamfunnet in Lillehammer to act as a supplier for healthy (ecological) foods

1981
• Nutana moves to Mjøndalen, an urban area some 60 kilometres from Oslo. Enormous growth in turnover

1991
• Nutana Norge is sold to Scan Vita and changes its name to Validus Engros

1994
• The Stykket family buys Validus Engros. The aim is to become the leading supplier in the health food industry

1996
• Validus buys Helsekostgrossisten

1999
• Validus sets up Life Scandinavia AS, which becomes the biggest health food chain in Norway after a short time

2001
• Validus buys Sentervirke AS (Vitamina)
• Validus sets up its own sales/marketing company in Sweden

2002
• The Validus group achieves its objective of becoming the biggest organisation in Norway in the field of health foods

2003
• Validus establishes Cosmetic Group AS and buys the perfumery chain Esthetique and pharmacy chain Vita

2004
• Validus buys a 35% stake in cosmetics wholesaler Paulsen & Due AS
• Validus establishes Travel Retail Norway AS together with German company Gebr. Heinemann, and as of 1 January 2005 operates duty-free shops at Gardermoen, Flesland, Sola, Værnes and Kjevik

2005
• Validus buys a 35% stake in the company Alternativ Mat AS, which imports and distributes alternative convenience goods (ecological foods, milk substitute products, gluten-free products, etc.)

2006
• Validus buys Heijden Sport Næringsprodukter AS
• Validus increases its holding in Alternativ Mat AS to 50%
• Validus buys 24% of shares in Swedish health food company Bringwell AB

2007
• Increases its holding in Bringwell AB to 39%
• Increases its holding in Alternativ Mat AS to 60%
• Validus sells Validus NNP, Hejden Sport and Nordic Nature Pharma to Bringwell AB
• Validus establishes VAMI together with Midelfart Capital and buys a majority holding in the hairdressing chains Adam og Eva and the CM group
• Validus buys the chain company in the Parfymelle perfumery chain

2008
• Increases its holding in Alternativ Mat as to 100%
• Increases its holding in Bringwell AB to 50%
• Takes over all shares in Paulsen & Due and increases its holding in Cosmetic Trading to 90%
• Establishes the company Helios Engros AS, which takes over the running of bankruptcy estate Helios. Helios sells ecological and biodynamic products and natural textiles.
